Interdisciplinary Research on the History of Architecture and Construction, the Decoration and Conservation of the West Choir of the Naumburg Cathedral

The Naumburg Cathedral is one of the greatest works of ecclesiastical architecture in Germany. The coloured sculptural decoration and architecture of the west choir lend global importance to the Naumburg Cathedral. Since the 19^th century the west choir has been examined from various different scientific points of view. However, numerous key questions have not been answered until today. Within the Naumburg Kolleg 11 young scientists of 6 different special fields research these open questions. This website gives information about the project and reports about the current state of the studies and intermediate results.
